October 15, 2019 —We are proud to welcome Carol Wheeler, Beatrix Rumford and Farris Hotchkiss to the Kendal at Lexington Board of Directors.
Carol Wheeler – Carol is the Chief Financial Officer for the George C. Marshall Foundation. Her fascinating career path includes time as a Foreign Service Officer, a professor in Viet Nam, an associate dean at St. Lawrence University, a financial consultant in Lexington and CFO for Rockbridge County Public Schools. Carol currently serves on the Rockbridge Area Hospice Board of Directors, is a member of the Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club and a member of the Rockbridge County Schools Foundation. Carol and her husband live in Lexington.
Beatrix Rumford – Trix is a resident of Kendal at Lexington and hails from Baltimore, MD. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Cooperstown Graduate Programs (SUNY). Trix was employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 38 years and had a distinguished career assisting in many facets of the historic area. Since moving to Kendal at Lexington in 2009, Trix has served on the Residents Council, the Executive Director Search Committee and the Philanthropy Committee. Using her professional background, she was instrumental in establishing the resident art gallery and continues to assist with its changing exhibits.
Farris Hotchkiss – Farris is the “oldest” new member as he has served Kendal at Lexington since the very conception and was instrumental in its founding. He has previously served on Kendal’s Board of Directors and was chair from 2005-2008. A graduate of W&L, he also worked for the university for most of his career. He has given of his time and talents to many of our local agencies, and he continues to serve at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, RE Lee Episcopal Church, Rockbridge Area Hospice, and at Washington & Lee. Farris also serves on the Kendal Charitable Funds Board at Kendal Corporation. Farris and his wife live in Lexington. They have three children and three grandchildren.
