Pathways for Wellness
The Fitness and Wellness Center also aims to have a positive effect on residents’ health and wellness. A primary goal for the department is to provide opportunities for residents to live actively and independently for as long as possible.
To achieve this goal, the department provides well-rounded programs designed around six components:
- Aerobic fitness
- Strength training
- Balance training
- Flexibility and mobility
- Mind and body
- Overall wellness
Fitness Center and Pool
The Fitness Center has an exercise classroom; a fitness room with exercise machines and an array of equipment; massage studio; and changing rooms, lockers, showers, and restrooms. Large windows allow in natural light and views of the beautiful campus, which enhances the health benefits.
The indoor pool (50-by-25 feet in size) has a depth-sloping ramp to ease entry. Whether to swim laps, exercise in place or simply relax with a float, the heated water restores body and soul.
In addition to top-flight facilities, fitness staff provide the extra push to help residents maintain a fitness routine. Through more than 30 classes a week, personal training and friendly encouragement, Kendal’s fitness professionals share residents’ goals to promote well-being.
Staff in the on-site clinic assist residents with assessment, management and referrals for many acute and chronic issues, including:
- Wound Care
- Flu Shots
- Ear Cleaning
- Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Assessment of Cognitive Changes
