Support Kendal at Lexington
Kendal at Lexington’s very existence is by virtue of the generosity of area residents, community leaders, and the Bartenstein family, who donated the picturesque 85 acres of land our community calls home.
We continue this culture of giving in many ways. Residents generously donate to the Staff Appreciation Fund and the Fellowship Fund.
As a not-for-profit organization, we also greatly appreciate contributions from family, friends and employers.
Philanthropy has played a key role in the development of the Kendal organization.
Those involved in the beginning of the first Kendal community set a tone of generosity—of spirit, of time, of talent, and of resources. This spirit of generosity continues to characterize life at Kendal at Lexington through gifts that have made possible financial assistance for residents, capital improvements, internships for students, and accumulation of charitable reserves.
Outright Gifts of Cash or Securities
An outright gift in the form of cash or securities permits an immediate federal income tax deduction. Gifts of long-term appreciated securities may offer additional benefits. For more information regarding a gift of securities, please contact Kendal at Lexington’s Chief Financial Officer or Beverly Grove, Director for Philanthropy at The Kendal Corporation by clicking here.
Staff Appreciation Fund
The purpose of the Staff Appreciation Fund is to recognize the excellent, caring work done by the staff who may not accept gifts or tips. Through the Staff Appreciation Fund residents have an opportunity to recognize the staff, express their appreciation and make a real difference. Resident contributions to the fund are distributed to the staff at community-wide events in June and December. Senior management is not included in this distribution.

The Fellowship Fund has been established to assist residents who, through no fault of their own, have depleted their financial resources and can no longer afford to reside at Kendal without assistance. Subsidies from the Fellowship Fund are used to augment their resources, as needed. The concept of a Fellowship Fund is a concrete example of community members caring for one another. The solicitation each year is usually in February, and residents contribute at whatever level they are most comfortable.
