All tests for COVID-19 have been negative at Kendal at Lexington for the last 4 testing cycles. Testing will continue for all staff once per week.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of this pandemic, we will continue to follow our established protocols and follow best practices for limiting the spread of this virus, including appropriate masking, regular handwashing and adhering to proper social distancing measures.

Safety Measures

Vaccines: Over 300 eligible residents and staff were vaccinated for their first and second rounds on January 11 &12, February 1& 2 and February 22 &23 by CVS/Omnicare through an on-site clinic.

VDOH Inspection: On Monday, Dec. 21, the Virginia Department of Health conducted an infection control survey in the Borden Center. They did not find any deficiencies. The survey gave us confirmation that proper infection control practices are in place as we work to control additional spread and care for residents.

Additional Personal Protective Equipment: We have provided staff with the appropriate protective equipment and gear.

Isolation Wing: All residents with tests indicating a positive result would be moved to a special quarantine area of the Borden Center. These residents would receive care from a special healthcare team dedicated to them. We work closely with the Department of Health and our Medical Director to develop care plans that specifically address individual needs.

Wellness Checks & Tracing: Staff are taking temperatures of residents in the Health Centers and ensuring these residents do not have signs or symptoms of COVID-19. We continue to screen all staff before they enter our community and conduct contact tracing on all positive COVID-19 cases, if needed.

Testing: We will test Borden Health Center staff and all staff one time per week. Testing results help us to implement quarantine and contact tracing protocols to help limit the spread. We are also using rapid test kits to immediately test those with an onset of new COVID signs or symptoms. This allows us to work even more quickly with the medical team to treat residents with the appropriate protocol.

Visitor Restrictions: New visitor protocol began March 1 and will vary depending on what care level of the community a resident resides.

Anderson Center Gathering: For Independent Living, gathering is limited to no more than 10 people at a time. Masks and social distancing are required.
