Start Your Planning Now
For many, the first step in making a move to Kendal at Lexington is to join the waitlist. Whether your plans are to move in a year or even 10, getting on the list is a smart move. As of October 1, 2020, we currently have 162 households on the waitlist.
While that sounds like a daunting number, there are many variables that affect the timeline, including the type of residence and floorplan desired. With over 20 floorplans available, not all residences have the same wait time. Some may be many years or for some there is immediate availability.
That’s why we encourage you to talk to us to get a sense of availability and keep us informed about your timing.
“Invest” in Your Future
One longtime resident, Dianne, encourages those considering Kendal to act now. “Oh my goodness, joining the waitlist is a no-brainer. Being on the waitlist is one of the best investments you could ever make if you have any thoughts of moving to a life care community.”
Dianne and her husband joined the waitlist over 20 years ago as Kendal at Lexington was under construction. They were familiar with a continuing care model since his parents were living in a CCRC in Michigan.
About 14 years later, Dianne’s husband passed away. “I did not like living in our house alone. Fortunately, I had a high priority number and my very favorite apartment happened to be turning over. I was first on the list to have a chance to say, ‘I’ll take it.’ I was so grateful that we had planned ahead, and that Kendal was here. This was a great move for me. Life here is stimulating with all the activities and resident involvement in the life of the community.”
How to Join the Waitlist
Start with talking with us about living options at Kendal. We’re happy to answer questions, arrange a visit (virtual and in limited cases, in person), and guide you through the process of joining the Priority Waitlist.
That includes a deposit of $1,250, ($1000 refundable). With your deposit, you become a Priority Waitlist “Member” which puts you “in line” for your desired residence and also gives you the opportunity to become engaged with the community through participating in on-site and online events, access to the fitness center at discounted rate (non-COVID times) and occasional mailed and email newsletters. It’s like getting to know your neighbors before you move in!
Sam and his wife, Meg, recently joined our waitlist. “Although we are thinking seven years out, life is uncertain. It gives us comfort to know that Kendal is ‘around the corner’ and offers a vibrant lifestyle for our next chapter.”
Joining the waitlist starts the process but does not limit you to a specific floor plan or obligation to take an open residence if it doesn’t match your timeline.
