Kendal webinar focuses on planning in an ‘Uncertain Environment’

More than 250 prospective residents of Kendal communities gathered online last week, to learn about “Planning for the Future in an Uncertain Environment.” Nationally known senior living expert Brad Breeding, a certified financial planner and CEO of MyLifeSite.net, kicked off the event with a quote from a former heavyweight boxing champ.

“Mike Tyson said, ‘Everyone has a plan until they get punched,’” Breeding noted, adding, “You can have the best laid plans and then something totally unforeseen like what we’re dealing with now arises and … it causes us to begin questioning our plans or maybe even going off plan.”

Breeding told his online audience that the three keys to maintaining financial security are perspective, objective and a plan. “It’s important to have some very clear objectives because without them you really don’t know what you’re planning for,” he said. “And once you have those objectives, then of course the plan is what you need to help meet those objectives.”

During his hourlong presentation, Breeding covered a wide range of related issues, including:

  • Perspectives on the coronavirus’ effect on the financial markets.
  • Assessing financial plans in the current environment.
  • How retirement communities are doing their part to “flatten the curve.”
  • How Kendal Communities are using technology to enhance wellness and help residents and prospective residents meet virtually.

The event concluded with Breeding’s answers to questions submitted by those who joined the event online.

Breeding has been quoted extensively about the senior living field in national news media, including Kiplinger’s Magazine, Money, USA Today and The New York Times. He is the author of What’s the Deal with Retirement Communities?
