It’s Restaurant Week in Downtown Lexington!

February 25, 2019

This week, from February 25 to March 3, Downtown Lexington will celebrate the Winter 2019 Restaurant Week! With 11 restaurants and four retail stores participating, now is the perfect time to get out and about and try something new.

We spoke with Francis Grist, the assistant executive director of Main Street Lexington, and she encourages everyone to take advantage of the great deals and enter the Restaurant Week Sweepstakes. “It’s a great opportunity to come down and try out different restaurants,” Francis says. “And every time you dine, you fill out a card and have a chance to win a gift certificate.” With more than 10 gift certificates up for grabs, the more places you dine out, the more chances you have to win.

The Restaurant Week specials are divided up into four categories at the different participating locations. Diners can enjoy $10 breakfast and lunch specials, $20 dinner specials or a three-course dinner menu for $30. Plus, several downtown retail favorites — like Old Lex Mercantile and the Cocoa Mill — have discounts on various food and beverage items.

“You don’t have to eat the Restaurant Week special if you want to eat something else,” Francis explains. “It’s just a good way to get out of your routine and experience something different.”

And don’t let any concerns about parking or construction keep you from venturing downtown. Francis is quick to point out that parking easy and abundant, so Kendal residents shouldn’t have any trouble finding a spot. “We have two great big lots that are free three-hour parking and then there is the parking garage, which is just about a block off Main Street,” she says.

While there is some construction currently happening on a Main Street water vane, Francis stresses that it won’t impede access to any of the restaurants. “All of the construction is mainly taking place north of Washington Street,” she says.

With delicious and unique choices like the crawfish and shrimp boil entrée at The Palms, cider braised pork shoulder at the Red Hen, or from-scratch sausage gravy for breakfast at the Blue Phoenix, now is the perfect time to experience all that Downtown Lexington has to offer.

But one final note from Francis: make sure you double-check restaurant hours before making plans since many don’t keep Monday hours. “Overall, it’s a great deal,” she says. “Come sample some cuisine from places you haven’t had a chance to dine before. Be adventuresome!”
