October 6, 2021 —Kendal at Lexington has been notified of two positive COVID test results for vaccinated staff members that serve in housekeeping and dietary. These staff members will rest at home for a designated time and contact tracing has been initiated.
Per regulatory guidelines, visitation for both the Borden Health Center and Webster Assisted Living Center is again suspended, except for essential personnel, as we work through testing and quarantine protocol. According to the VADOH (Dept. of Health) guidelines, residents and staff who have had contact with this staff person were tested. All results were negative. Exposed residents and staff will be tested again on Monday.
We will keep residents and family members updated on testing results and plans to reopen to visitors again. We have implemented additional infection control measures and will work with residents in these Centers to stay connected to their loved ones through phone calls and other methods. Compassionate Care visits will be allowed with approval from the Director of Nursing (Borden) or Nurse Manager (Webster).
Kendal at Lexington’s vaccination rate for staff is almost 93%. Almost all residents in the community are vaccinated. A vaccine mandate requirement came in to affect this month giving staff until October 15 to be fully vaccinated. All staff continue to be screened and temped when reporting to work.
There are no additional visitation restrictions implemented for residential independent living at this time. All guests to the Anderson Center common areas are required to wear masks and vaccination is required for guest participation in some activities.
CEO Jan Bigelow states, “I appreciate how understanding families and residents are as this pandemic continues to impact our community. I’m grateful to the dedicated staff working here today who continue to provide exceptional care for the residents we serve.”
