News from the ‘RUG’

Published March 2019 in CONNECTIONS

By Resident John South —

In recent weeks, the RUG (Residents User Group) has made some changes to the Computer Help Room, including a black and white laser printer with stand (supplied by the IT Department). Bring your own paper and use the USB cable to connect to your computer or either of the two computers already there. Stop by to check it out. RUG volunteers as well as IT Director Mark Christensen continue to staff the Help Room four days a week, either just before or after lunch (schedule posted by the door.)

We are also organizing a series of low-key workshops on skills that will be useful for residents wanting to create memory photo books, slide shows and other media. Possible topics, applicable to both PC and Mac users, include collecting, organizing, editing and cropping, as well as conversion of snapshots from old albums without having to disassemble the album. Converting 35mm slides and videos or movies will also be explored. The curriculum and schedule will be determined with resident input. Please tell a RUG member (Ted Burrowes, Maureen Crandall, Elaine Emerson, Burrell Fisher, Dianne Herrick, Margaret Skovira, John South and Helen Staley) what aspects interest you most.
