October 15, 2019 —A generous donor, an Independent Living resident whose late spouse lived in Borden, has set
up a fund to buy fresh flowers for use on the tables in the Borden dining room. A group
of Borden Skilled Nursing Center residents gathers on Thursdays, 3 to 4 pm, in the Borden dining room to make
the little bouquets and put them into vases.
Independent Living resident Patti Hammond helps the residents choose and arrange the
flowers. Many were gardeners and flower arrangers in their earlier lives, Patti says,
and even if they now have dementia they enjoy handling the flowers and creating a
simple arrangement.
