COULD YOU BENEFIT FROM AQUTIC THERAPY?
Please join us Thursday, June 15 at 4:30 PM to discover how aquatic therapy/exercise can benefit you. Aquatic therapy is the practice of physical therapy by a trained therapist within the environment of a water filled pool. Kendal residents are privileged to have a 50 ft. X 25 ft. warm water (87 degrees) pool on site. Aquatic therapy is available to you at the Kendal pool with a Doctor’s referral.
Water has many unique physical properties which offer an environment for exercise that is beneficial for a wide range of medical diagnoses or impairments. Many of the same activities performed on land can be done in the water with increased freedom of movement, with less pain, and without the fear of falling. In addition, warm water enhances relaxation of tense muscles and decreases joint stiffness. We will be discussing the properties of water, the benefits of aquatic therapy, and who would be appropriate for water exercises on June 15th.
Doris Moorman, PT, a physical therapist at the Kendal, specializing in aquatic therapy, will present a short overview of aquatic therapy and answer any questions you might have regarding the aquatic program at Kendal. Please come and learn about this unique and beneficial form of exercise. Your body will be glad you did.
