Celebrate Your Story Year-Long Series

Tuesday, December 31st, 2019, 12:00am - 12:00am

“Celebrating Your Story” showcases residents and guests sharing their experiences documenting history.

As the excitement of genealogical discovery has come to the forefront with the digital age and DNA, many conversations have been sparked throughout families.  The Kendal at Lexington Culture and Entertainment committee has teamed up with local organizations, researchers and their own residents to answer the how, what, when, where and why of exploring one’s own personal stories and the world that shapes us.

All year long, guest speakers will give programs on how-to sessions, including sources for doing genealogical research, tips on how to do oral history, how to write one’s memoirs, how take old photos and make into formats to share. Other signature events will feature explorations into food, art, music, dancing and cultures.

Local organizations partnering for the series include the Rockbridge Regional Library, VMI Memoir’s Project, and local oral historian Dick Halseth, among others.

Be inspired by residents and resident guests that have experience and learn tips and gain resources on how to get started.  For questions contact info@kalex.kendal.org.
