The Kendal Idea

A leader in the field of not-for-profit retirement living, the Kendal organization has, from its beginning, been in the forefront of much that is new and exciting in serving the needs of older adults.

The values and practices embodied in our community are derived from a particular goal - to provide conditions that foster independence, health and security so that residents may realize their full potential.

We seek to provide a way of life for older adults which counters ageism in our society and offers a better way to grow older.

Our community is designed to be a place where people are fully engaged in life. We encourage residents to move in early in their retirement years to make the most of new opportunities and new relationships.

Residents continue to be involved in the larger world after moving to Kendal. Many remain active in political, cultural and religious activities, and in many kinds of volunteer work. Some residents continue with careers as well.
