The Perfect Backdrop for Your Retirement Years

Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, Lexington, Virginia is a special place that offers all the ingredients for a wonderful retirement lifestyle.  Surrounded by natural beauty, Lexington boasts small town charm, cultural richness, southern hospitality and a remarkably rich history. View a Google map.

Enjoy a stroll through downtown Lexington. Shop in the quaint shops. Have a meal in one of the many downtown restaurants.  Visit one of the many historic spots in town such as the only house that Stonewall Jackson ever owned, and Robert E. Lee's tomb.

Find yourself sitting under stars enjoying a play or a concert at the Theater at Lime Kiln.  Take a step back in time and enjoy a drive-in movie at Hull's Drive-In.

Washington & Lee University (left) and Virginia Military Institute (right), within walking distance of the Kendal campus, provide opportunities for intellectual and cultural stimulation.  Audit a class at W&L.  Attend a lecture by an internationally known figure.  Enjoy a performance at the Lenfest Center by a world renowned artist or by a graduating senior.  Cheer for teams at each school, where a full slate of athletic programs are available for those who enjoy spectator sports.

Natural Bridge, once owned by Thomas Jefferson, is one of Virginia's natural wonders and is just a few short miles from Kendal at Lexington.  Natural Bridge hosts several Elderhostels each year.

Stop by the Virginia Horse Center; competitions and shows occur almost every week.   Enjoy a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway to view the mountain laurel blossoms in spring or the colorful foliage in the fall.

Your days can be filled with exploring all the beautiful and unique features that Lexington and the surrounding area have to offer. Contact us and we'll help you plan a visit.
