Kendal Resistance PoolMake a Gift to Kendal at Lexington

Gifts of Cash or Investments

Outright gifts include: cash, securities, property, and paid-up insurance policies. Such contributions give the donor the gratification of helping Kendal at Lexington immediately, in an unrestricted way or with whatever focus the donor prefers. Among all the ways of giving, outright gifts offer maximum tax benefits for the donor.

Deferred or "Planned" Gifts

Planned giving means committing now to a future charitable objective that accommodates a donor's preferences, usually over a remaining lifetime. A deferred or planned gift can be in the form of cash, securities, or property, and offers the special feature of assuring the donor continued personal income or other use of the asset, as well as favorable tax treatment both currently and in the future. Planned gifts have the advantages described above, as well as specifically designed income and tax advantages. They include:

  • Bequests: A popular and time-tested way to carry out charitable intentions after protecting assets during one's life. A bequest can be a specific amount of a particular asset, or it can be a residual bequest (remaining after other distributions) or contingent on some other event (such as someone else's continued life).
  • Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA): A contract with Kendal at Lexington to pay the donor or other beneficiary a guaranteed income for life often at higher than current market rates. The CGA returns some of its principal to the donor tax-free, plus taxable income, but preserves the greater proportion of the gift for an eventual charitable use.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust: the individual trust established by a gift to Kendal at Lexington (minimum $100,000) makes fixed, or variable, annual payments to the donor or another beneficiary for a specified number of years for life.
  • Life Insurance: A paid up policy can be donated for its cash value or Kendal can be made the beneficiary at death.
  • Real Estate can be used to make a gift.  Please inquire for details.
